If I click on the Start button, nothing happens. Right-click the Windows Start button (or press Ctrl + Alt + Del) and select Task Manager. Just try the methods depending on the case: Case 1: Windows Key & Start Button Not Working. If it persists, based on your equipment model, go to the manufacturers website and download compatible and updated drivers, and reinstall them. The Windows 10 start menu has stopped working. If the Start menu opens successfully in that way, there is problem with the Windows key. You might even resort to refreshing/resetting the OS. If the Start menu can’t be opened either, there is problem with the Start menu. If you STILL have issues after that, create and try another user profile to see if the issue persists outside of the original user. If you can’t use the Start menu to restart your computer, close all open apps and press Alt + F4 to bring up the Shut Down Windows menu. I’ve seen quite a few issues with Windows 10’s new Start Menu, but by far the most common problems brought to my attention are the Start Menu simply will not open or the search function will not work.
